In the medical field, to effectively prevent cross-contamination, the safest and most recommended glove material is nitrile.
Nitrile is preferred because it offers excellent protection against bacteria and viruses, good puncture resistance, and – most importantly – it is latex-free, eliminating the risk of allergic reactions for both healthcare professionals and patients. Additionally, modern technologies have made nitrile gloves highly sensitive and comfortable, while maintaining good chemical resistance.
Latex provides a good barrier and excellent sensitivity but may cause allergic reactions in individuals who are predisposed.
Vinyl is generally not recommended for critical use in preventing cross-contamination, due to its lower barrier integrity and reduced physical resistance.
